A Sacramento tile crew that cares about the prep as much as the finish
What drives the work
Elmhurst Tile Installation operates out of Sacramento with a focus on residential tile work in Midtown, East Sacramento, and Land Park. Our small crew handles a range of projects from single-bathroom retiles to full-home floor installations and outdoor patios.
The work we do spans ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, marble, slate, terrazzo, and mosaic tile. Each material has its own behavior, its own tolerances, and its own demands at the installation stage. A marble slab needs different handling than a large-format porcelain plank. Getting that right is not a detail, it is the whole job.
Sacramento's housing stock gives us a wide range of conditions to work with. Midtown bungalows often have original wood subfloors that need reinforcement before any tile is set. East Sacramento homes from the mid-century period may have concrete slabs that look solid but need leveling. Land Park's older builds sometimes have previous tile layers that need removal before a clean substrate is possible. We assess each space honestly and prepare it properly, regardless of what that takes.
The goal on every project is a finished surface that looks right, holds up to daily use, and does not require a call back in six months. That standard does not change based on project size.
How we approach the work
Precise layout
Tile layout is planned before the first piece is cut. Centering, pattern alignment, and edge treatment are all decided at the layout stage, not adjusted mid-install.
Honest substrate prep
Cracked grout and loose tiles usually trace back to inadequate prep. We spend the time on the substrate so the tile above it performs the way it should.
Wet area waterproofing
Showers and tub surrounds get proper waterproofing membranes. This step is invisible in the finished product but determines whether the work lasts five years or twenty.
Clear communication
We walk through the scope before starting, flag anything unexpected during the job, and do a walkthrough at the end. No surprises on the invoice.
Where we work
Our work is concentrated in three Sacramento neighborhoods, which lets us stay responsive and familiar with the housing types and conditions in each area.
